One more post on me: Well, I enjoy outdoor
activities (running, biking, hiking, swimming)
and indoor activities (darts, pool, poker).
Oh, and also beer! :-) Luckily, I now live in
a city chock-full of breweries and brewpubs!
My wife claims I'm addicted to the computer,
but I can quit whenever I choose... yes I can...
I swear... I just choose not to! :-)
The name 'offdisc' comes from my running group
the "Hash House Harriers" (if you enjoy beer
and running, find your local chapter:
http://gotothehash.net ) and stands for
"Offensive Discharge". While a bit of a
stretch, it should become clear in the future
of this blog, just what that stands for.

The first thing we needed to do in Denver was
find employment. I am a computer consultant,
and although I *know* it isn't my life's
calling, I also know I'm quite good at what I
do. So, I stayed in the field and found a
position working as a consultant for the BLM
helping manage their Wild Horses and Burros.
My wife has always worked in non-profits, and
although it *is* her life's calling, she has
found herself pigeon-holed on the fundraising
side, which she does not enjoy. However, she
found a fantastic position running an education
foundation and is now involved in a
ground-breaking teaching environment that has
the potential to set the entire education
industry on its ear. So, overall, we're both
very excited by our new jobs!

A little about me (after all, why else would
anyone be reading this?):
My wife and I got married in Sept. 2003 after 8
years of dating. We had a wonderful wedding
in the mountains of upstate NY, surrounded by
family and great friends.
After we returned from our honeymoon in Fiji,
we decided that we had had our fill of New York
City (me after 35 years, her after 12) and
needed more open space and better weather. So
we packed up our apartment, bid adieu to our
friends and family, and struck out on the road
for a fantastic trip across the USA, with a
small detour to Costa Rica and Belize.

Now we are living in Denver, Colorado and
having a blast!

What is a blog all about? Well, I've been
told so many different things that I've come
to realize a blog is about whatever you want
it to be. Since I have no idea what I want,
this blog is total stream of consciousness!
Should be fun to write... let me know whether
it's as fun to read.
